A Love Letter to Sadness
I try to remind myself to honor all my emotions.
I do not need to feel happy or ‘on’ all the time, there is beauty in sadness - Just like there is beauty in winter. When I allow myself to feel the full range of emotions, I allow myself to be authentic and authenticity is one of the highest vibrations from which we can attract what aligns with us most.
There is no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ emotion - some are just more intense than others. Some emotions feel light and are easy to process - others feel more heavy and take longer to process.
Thats probably why our happiest moments feel fleeting and our darkest moments feel like they last forever - it's because each emotion gets processed at a different speed. But both remain experiences, each valuable in their own way.
In that same breath we are quick to diagnose someone who is sad with depression but what if it’s just their season to be sad? Their personal winter season? I find that it is usually the pressure to feel ‘happy again’ that adds a layer of difficulty to an already complex feeling. I suggest we give ourselves and others the freedom to feel what we need to feel without trying to escape the discomfort.
